초록
‘Double-translation’ is one of the major key words of Korean literature in translation around 1920 and it became an opportunity to create the texts having intertextuality in which several literatures are piled one above another by the transfer between literatures. SALOME written by Hyun Chul is a text having intertextuality in which several linguistic and cultural layers conflicts and are piled one above another through the process of transfer from the Sourse Text to the Medium text and then to the Target text. It is found that several signs of intertextuality imply all connections and disconnections between the texts based on the actual truth such as the situation where the Sourse text ‘SALOME’ is translated to various Japanese versions of ‘サロメ(SALOME)’, where the Japanese version of ‘SALOME’ written by Nakamura Kichijo, Hyun Chul’s recognition of modern theaters existing in the background and the reality of theatrical world in Korea. Double-translations frequently seen in the formative period of Korean modern literature are traces showing the Japanese literature in translation or the particularity of Korean modern literature which had to be affected by Japanese literature and the accomplishments that formed Korean modern literature under Japanese colonial rule. In this sense, double-translation is the trace of conflicts between the literature and cultures of Korean with those of modern Western countries and those of modern Japan intermediating among the two and the key factor which established Korean literature in translation as a kind of field of a fierce battle.
