Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the use of herbals or/and traditional products supplements and doping test among elite athletes. 228 athletes from 14 sport disciplines completed a questionnaire which sought prevalence of herbals/traditional products, reason of supplements, informants, information on demographical parameters, type of supplements, and doping consciousness. herbals or/and traditional products samples were collected though 10 athletes using the multi-strarified cluster random sampling method, analysed doping control center in KIST. The prevalence of oriental medicine usage is 53.5%(male) and 62.2%(female), reason of taken supplements was higher to improve recovery ability after exercise and training than to control conditioning. Relative gender, significant differences were observed informants(male: self, female: parents) and doping consciousness(male: 73.7%, female: 31.4%). All of the samples, the results of WADA anti-doping code test was negative into 9 items and 210 substances. In conclusion, many herbals or/and traditional products dosage as ergogenic despite a lack of evidence to support such claims. Moreover, there was difference between the doping consciousness levels of male and female and prefer that female athletes have to increase the doping consciousness level.
