사회철학적, 문화사적 관점에서 본 인간의 경쟁심과 스포츠 경쟁

초록

이 연구에서는 인간의 경쟁심과 스포츠 활동과 같은 경쟁 행위에 대해 어떠한 담론이 형성되어 있는 지를사회철학적, 문화사적 관점에서 살펴보았다. 이러한 담론은 스포츠 경쟁교육의 올바른 방향성을 제시하는 데도움이 될 것으로 생각한다. 선행연구를 보면, 인간의 경쟁심과 경쟁 행위는 현대 산업사회에서 긍정적인 측면을 가지고 있으며 또한 회피할 수 없는 성격을 가진 것으로 볼 수 있다. 그리고 이러한 현대 산업사회의 기본이념을 가시적으로 구현하고 있는 인간 행위의 장이 바로 스포츠이다. 그러나 긍정적인 효과를 가진 경쟁 행위는 상업적 목적이나 물질적 보상과 결부되었을 경우 도덕적 타락에 빠질 위험성이 매우 높다. 그리고 이러한현상은 스포츠체제의 정당성을 훼손하는 결과를 초래할 수 있다. 이를 방지하기 위해서는 관련 법규의 제정과같은 제도적 장치가 마련되는 것과 함께 어린 시절부터 교육적 지도, 관리를 통해 선수들이 정정당당한 행위의주체로서, Simmel의 말에 따르면 도덕적 존재로서, 성장할 수 있도록 관심을 기울여야 할 것이다. 더 나아가스포츠를 통해 획득한 능력이 삶의 다른 영역으로 전이될 수 있올 때 비로소 스포츠 경쟁교육의 효과는 극대화된다. 이를 위해서는 스포츠와 학교교육 그리고 여가활동 등이 균형을 이룬 삶의 구조화가 필요하다. 이와 관련하여 현재 우리나라에서 운동선수들의 학습권 보장의 차원에서 이루어지고 있는 여러 개선책들은 매우 바람직하다고 볼 수 있다.

Abstract

From the viewpoint of social philosophy and cultural history, this study examined the discourses about human competitive spirit and competitive behaviors like sports activity in greater detail. The discourses are useful in taking the correct course of competitive sport education. According to the review of various studies, human competitive spirit and competitive behaviors have positive effects and can't be avoidable in modern industrial society. The sport is the very field of human behavior in which fundamental ideals of the industrial society are noticeably realized. But competitive behaviors can fall easily into a moral corruption, when they are associated with commercial means and material considerations. It may ultimately result in the loss of the legitimacy that is given to the sport system as a whole. In order to prevent such a case, it is necessary to make relevant rules. In addition, we must be interested in bringing the young athletes up to develop themselves as a fair moral being. The effect of competitive education can be maximized when the competence acquired from the sporting world is transferred to another life spheres. For this purpose, it is necessary to structuralize the spheres of athlete's life like sports career, school education, and leisure activity etc. From this perspective, it is very desirable that various reform programs are put in force to ensure the young athletes a right to learn in a classroom.
