문학작품에 나타난 방언의 기능

Abstract

The dialect is a living language. it is language of life in which our tradition, history and culture are living and breathing. our deep understanding of dialects must be preceded to understand the literary work which includes such dialect. Based on examples of actual literary work, I studied what kinds of functions dialect has and showed them in this thesis. Writers use dialect a lot in their work. I examined what novelists and poets - who use dialect a lot - usually figure out and presented their philosophy of language and dialect. I explained with examples of 'The application of traditional diction and rhythm, Union with tradition, Personality implementation of the cast, Application of humorous function, New discovery of dialect vocabulary and application of image, Development promotion of colloquial style(or colloquialism) work, Acquisition of an areal identity' as the function of dialect which writers use, I emphasized that dialect in literary works is a subject which should be primarily treated in linguistic view by people whose major is Korean dialectology.
