Abstract
There are several different endings between the standard Korean and the southeastern dialect of Korean. In this paper, we examined three endings of this kind. Firstly, there is only one interrogative ending '-nya' in the standard Korean whereas, in the southeastern dialect there are four interrogative endings '-ka', '-ko', '-na', and '-no'. Secondly, the volitive conjunctive ending is '-(u)ryeo' in the former, but in the latter the ending is '-(u)la'. Thirdly, the polite-formal endings are '-supnida' and '-supnikka' in the former, but in the latter the endings are '-supnideo' and '-supnikkeo'. In this paper, I argued that it is necessary to describe the differences of these two dialects on the basis of Phonological Form on the one hand, and that it is also important to explain the phonological and morphological processes in these differences on the basis of morphemes which constitute these endings on the other hand.
