Abstract

The culture means every vestige of the human development and has the literature and history in a subordinate concept. These cultual phenomena affect each other, history creates literature, the history of those days can be reinterpreted by literature. Gyeong-ju was the capital of Sil-la Dynasty for one thousand years. So the abundance of cultural heritages leads tourists to visit Gyeong-ju. But, the most of cultural survey of those days is only the one of historical relics. We must not fail to notice that the literature of those days are part of the valuable cultural heritages. Historical and cultural understanding of the classical poetry of Gyeong-ju involves the interpretation in the literary field of Gyeong-ju, the heritage in the literature, the present monument of literature(Hyang-ga monument) for the current literature of the days, the religion and philosophy of those days, and the historical characters. The reason why there is no Go-ryeo Classic Poetry(俗樂歌詞, 俗謠) in Gyeong-ju is that Go-ryeo Classic Poetry was a court music in Go-ryeo Dynasty, so it couldn't affect Gyeong-ju which is far from the capital of Go-ryeo. Also the Si-jo Poetry which is the exclusive one of the nobles, couldn't harmonize with the popular mind of Gyeong-ju based the Buddhism. Ga-gek(歌客, singer of Si-jo) of the later period of Cho-seon Dynasty couldn't affect Gyeong-ju, too, because they were prospered in Gyeong-gi(京畿) and Ho-nam(湖南) area. Hyang-ga Poetry is a Buddhist literature of Sil-la prospered in Gyeong-ju. And we need more data and literate to make a further study on Ga-sa Poetry and Si-jo Poetry.
