영웅 개념의 주체적 모색과 신채호 문학 - 신채호의 『伊太利建國三傑傳』 읽기 -

Abstract

This paper tries to explore problematic concepts in the historical-biographical novel in the period of modern enlightenment. Shin's novel can be regarded as keen-imagined genre as the modern concepts of nation, nation-state, nationalism, subject, ethnic, hero,history, feminine and so on. It is based on the contemporaneous-ness between the historical-biographical novel and Korean modern literature. The reason why I newly interpret the novel Italy Kunguk Samgul-Jeon is that the process of interpretation can make us help to shed light the modernity of Korean modern literature. Through this work, what we achieve is the fact that Shin Che Ho had been re-interpreted the concept of "hero" established by the Western modernity and appropriated it to the literary property by himself. As preceding work, I examined the Italian representation depicted by the mass media in the period of modern enlightenment. And I tried to take interpretation of Italy Kunguk Samgul-Jeon with the basis of research of the news articles on the figures. In the precess I found out that Shin had an attempted to newly read the notion of hero in his work Italy Kunguk Samgul-Jeon. This reading has different literary attempt with that of Yang Kye Choi. Last but not least, Shin's Italy Kunguk Samgul-Jeon is not just translation on Yang's Samgul-Jeon(三傑傳) but instead is achievement of the re-interpretation on Yang's the work which was rooted from the Western concept of hero. So Shin's work is result of his grass-root insights.
