연안지역 문화경관 해석을 위한 문화적 기억 이론 적용방법 고찰

초록

연안지역 문화경관은 인류가 해양환경에 적응하고진화한 흔적으로, 내륙과 구별되는 문화적 특징을 지닌다. 따라서 이를 해석하기 위해서는 별도의 해석체계가 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 최근 증가하는 문화적기억에 대한 담론을 기반으로 연안지역 문화경관의해석에 적용할 수 있는 해석체계를 제안한다. 문화적 기억 이론은 내면적, 사회적, 문화적 차원의기억을 다루고 있기에, 문화적 기억 관점에서는 다각도에서 연안지역 문화경관을 해석할 수 있다. 문화적차원의 기억은 미디어에 저장되면서 일시적으로 고정된 형태이기에 유형별로 텍스트, 아레나, 퍼포먼스등 세 가지 해석 방식을 활용하였다. 내면적·사회적차원의 기억은 계속해서 변화하고 있는 현재진행형기억이기에 형성, 저장/전환, 전승 등 과정별 해석 방식을 적용하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 해석체계는 연안지역 문화경관실증적 조사에 기여할 것이며, 이를 통해 현 세대가이들의 가치에 공감하고 지속 가능한 발전의 기반을마련하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Abstract

The cultural landscape of a coastal regions serves as a trace of humanity's adaptation and evolution to the marine environment, exhibiting several distinct cultural characteristics as compared to inland regions. Therefore, a separate system of interpretation is necessary for comprehensive understanding. In this context, this paper establishes an system of interpretation based on the recently increasing discourse on cultural memory, and examines the methods that are applicable to interpreting cultural landscapes in coastal regions. Since cultural memory theory addresses memory at the internal, social, and cultural levels, the cultural landscape of a coastal regions can be interpreted from various perspectives within the cultural memory framework. As cultural memories are stored in media and temporarily fixed, three types of interpretation methods were employed for each type: text, arena, and performance. Considering that memory at the internal and social levels is an ongoing process that is continuously changing, an interpretation method for each stage — these being formation, storage / conversion, and transmission — was applied. The analytical framework presented in this study is expected to contribute to the empirical investigation of cultural landscapes in coastal regions. It is anticipated that this framework will facilitate the current generation's appreciation of these landscapes' values and assist in establishing a foundation for sustainable development
