신문을 활용한 대학 글쓰기 교육 사례 고찰

Abstract

This research is contemplation on the “Thinking and Academic Writing” class which utilizes newspaper at the university’s writing education to students’ thinking and expression as well as to invigorate their cooperative learning. This paper contemplates educational effects and instructions examining various cases about how to concretely utilize newspaper materials during the class activities. This research introduces various texts, such as articles, editorials, poems and cartoons, which were used during the class activities following each module’s class object. and also points out that NIE is effective in integrating subject-oriented various contents as well as in strengthening students’ class participation. Especially by NIE, students could cultivate their problem-solving ability through the process of understanding of social issues and stimulation of active reading and writing. This paper also emphasizes the effectiveness of NIE as a supplementary learning content to teaching materials. In other words, rather than passive receiving the writing theories or principles, NIE is meaningful in allowing that students experience the deepening and expanding of writing subjects habituating themselves to everyday active reading in their daily lives. In addition, NIE has educational implications in the education of thinking and expression by forming democratic citizenship as well as by expanding students’ mutual communication opportunities.
