다문화가정 어머니가 자녀양육에서 경험하는 의사소통의 어려움에 관한 연구

이 연구는 다문화가정의 어머니가 자녀양육에서 경험하는 의사소통의 어려움을 알아보고, 이를 토대를 향후 다문화교육의 방향에 대해 논의하고자 실시하였다. 연구의 목적을 위하여 다문화가정 어머니 6명을 대상으로 개별적 심층면담을 실시하였고, 질적인 연구 방법을 통하여 면담 자료를 분석한 결과, 연구 문제와 관련된 2개의 주제와 7개의 관련 하위범주가 도출되었다. 다문화가정 어머니가 경험한 자녀양육에 관한 범주로는 양육 환경 및 주 양육자의 역할 혼동, 자녀양육에 대한 가치관의 갈등, 그리고 자녀교육의 어려움으로 나타났다. 또한 자녀와의 의사소통과 관련된 범주로는 자녀와의 갈등, 자녀와 의사소통의 어려움, 자녀와의 원만한 의사소통을 위한 노력, 그리고 자녀교육과 자녀와의 원만한 의사소통을 위한 지원에 대한 요구가 도출되었다. 범주에 따라 나타난 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구에 참여한 다문화가정의 어머니들은 출산 이후 자녀를 양육하는데 있어서 적잖은 어려움을 가지고 있었다. 어머니 자신이 자녀의 주 양육자임에도 불구하고 자녀의 성장과정을 잘 모르거나 이로 인하여 부모 역할에 대한 죄책감을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화가정의 어머니들이 자녀양육과 관련한 여러 가지 갈등 중에서 가장 어려워하고 있는 것은 자신의 언어적 장벽으로 인하여 자녀와 원만한 의사소통을 할 수 없다는 것이었다. 따라서 연구에 참여한 다문화가정의 어머니들은 지역사회에서 다문화가정의 구성원들을 대상으로 다문화교육을 시행할 때, 획일적인 교육 내용이나 방법이 아닌 다문화가정의 특성과 요구에 맞는 교육과 지원이 제공될 수 있기를 기대했다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 향후 우리 사회가 실행해야 할 다문화교육의 방향에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze difficulties some mothers of multicultural families experience in conversation with their children. In order to accomplish the purpose of this study, an in-depth interview has been executed to respectively for six mothers of Multicultural Families and two subjects and seven categories related to this study were drawn by analyzing interview data through qualitative research method. The category mothers of multicultural families experience in rearing their children were the difference of parenting environment, role conflict of fosterer, value conflict of their children- rearing and difficulties of their children-rearing. As for the category of communication with their children, conflict with their children, difficulties of their children-rearing, effort to communicate with their children and demand of support for communication of multicultural families were drawn. The results were as follows;First, mothers of multicultural families who participated in this study had some difficulties rearing their children. Even though mothers were main fosterers, they sometimes had a hard time understanding their children and they felt guilty that they could not foster their children well. Second, the most difficult thing mothers of multicultural families face was that they can not communicate well with their children. Therefore, mothers participated in this study expected different proper education and supports adaptable for their families rather than monopolistic education contents and method when providing multicultural education for the members of multicultural families. Based on the research result, a future direction of multicultural education our society should pursue is discussed.
