Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Brief Inventory of Thriving Scale (K-BIT) among special education teachers. Method: To examine the reliability and validity of the K-BIT, internal consistency, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and correlation analyses were conducted. Results: The K-BIT demonstrated high internal consistency (α=.899). CFA supported a one-factor structure for the K-BIT, with all standardized factor loadings exceeding .50, and an average variance extracted (AVE) of .581, indicating convergent validity. For discriminant validity, the K-BIT was not significantly associated with gender. For nomological validity, the K-BIT showed significant positive correlations with grit and happiness. For criterion-related validity, the K-BIT was significantly positively correlated with flourishing, life satisfaction, and positive affect, and significantly negatively correlated with negative affect. Additionally, the K-BIT was positively associated with job satisfaction. Finally, the latent variable of thriving showed a strong correlation (.936) with the latent construct of new well-being (flourishing, positive affect, and negative affect). Conclusion: These findings suggest that the K-BIT is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing thriving in special education teachers.
