현대건축의 외피에 나타난 반투명성의 표현 특성에 관한 연구 - SANAA 건축의 외피 구축 방식을 중심으로 -

건축은 새로운 기술의 발전과 재료의 활용 방법을 통해 그 시대에 필요한 형상과 공간을 구축해왔다. 근대건축이 유리, 철, 콘크리트 등의 재료를 통해 시대적 특성이 표현된 새로운 프로그램에 대한 대응과 함께 형태, 공간의 개념 변화를 초래하였다. 현대에서 감각적 형상과 표면의 구현은 재료적 특성의 활용을 통해 물성의 발현을 그 근간으로 하고 있으며 이를 구현하려는 방법으로 반투명성의 표면이 활용되고 있다. 반투명이 갖는 새로운 투명의 개념은 현대건축 전반에 있어 건축 이미지 및 공간 표현의 잠재성과 확장 가능성을 보여준다. 따라서 본 논문은 관념과 현상 사이를 통합하는 매체로써의 반투명성의 이해를 통해 반투명성이 만들어내는 표면의 효과와 공간적 이미지의 상관관계를 파악하고 이를 가능하게 하는 외피의 구축방식을 체계적으로 분석하려 한다. 유리, 플라스틱, 철재로 대변되는 재료의 변형을 통한 반투명 외피의 구축 방법에 대해 고찰하고 위의 재료의 반투명적 활용기법을 분석하고, 현대 건축에서 대표적으로 반투명성의 물성을 효과적으로 이용한 SANAA 건축에 대한 특성을 알아보고, SANAA의 외피 구축 방식에 대한 단면적, 입면적 분석을 통해 반투명이 만드는 외부적 이미지와 내부적 공간의 관계를 도출하려 한다.
Abstract
New technology of architecture develops and utilizes through needs of materials which affects construction of building shapes and space. In the modern architectural material, such as glass, steel, concrete expressed new paradigm along with corresponding forms and new program resulted in changes of concept in space. In contemporary, the sensuous shape and surface characteristics of the implementation activates through the use of translucent material. Translucency, as a new material concept of contemporary architecture, creates new architectural images and spatial representation. Therefore, this study analyzes translucency as medium which integrates relation between ideas and phenomena. It shows correlation to produce a translucent effect and the spatial image of surface through systematically analyzed availability that enables the construction of translucent envelope by surface treatment. Translucent surface is represented by the method of reconfiguration property of glass, plastic, steel materials through deformation of construction methods. Analysis of Major utilization of materials techniques, this research investigates characteristics of SANAA’ architecture as examples which utilizes the translucent property as major material for exterior surface. Finally, this study has a meaning that how SANAA represents the characteristic of translucency through fabricating the surface and creates the relation between the cross-sectional composition and surface design, by analyzing how SANAA makes external image and tries to derive the relationship between the internal space.
