Abstract
The purpose of this study is to present Career Related Continuous Learning(CRCL) as a measure for proactive career management to cope with the rapid changes in the employment market with diversified values of career and to suggest a new perspective of the area of career development. This study aimed to measure levels of subjective career success, CRCL, and protean career attitudes and to determine the mediating effects of CRCL on the relations between protean career attitudes and subjective career success in organizational members. A survey was conducted in employees with career of five years or longer at lifelong education institutions; then, a total of 417 questionnaires were used in statistical analysis. The results are as follows: First, the higher protean career attitudes organizational members had, the higher awareness of subjective career success they had. Second, CRCL partially mediated the relations between protean career attitudes and subjective career success. At an organizational level, it is necessary to draw up a plan to give institutional support by providing learning opportunities and creating a learning environment. At a personal level, organizational members need to realize their own psychological and intrinsic values through continuous CRCL activities so that secure a competitive edge in the employment market. In particular, a HRD policy is most of all urgent and important to assist people with protean career attitudes in doing CRCL activities continuously and to improve employability and the subjective and psychological quality of life in the flexible labor market system.
