This study aims to look over the literary exchange between Joseon and Ching envoys based on records from Korea. Yet within the cultural exchange between Joseon and Ching envoys, there remains a large piece of uncharted terrain. However, it should be pointed out because it is a large part of the Joseon-Ching cultural exchange. After the Manchu war of 1636, the great part of government officials asserted an expedition to conquer the north. This attitude became a barrier to active exchange. But as the time goes by, the tension was defused. Under the reign of King Jongjo, some courtiers gave poets to Ching envoys on behalf of the King. After that, Ching envoys and Joseon intellectuals carried out cultural exchange individually. Even though most envoys were Manchurians, Joseon intellectuals had a enthusiastic attitude toward exchanging poets or handwritings.
