창의적 교육환경을 위한 초등학교 어학교육실의 실내공간 연구 -인천광역시 초등학교를 대상으로-

21세기 들어 국가적으로 미래 인재들의 창의성을 발달시키기 위한 다양한 정책과 교육방법이 연구되고 있으나 교육환경의 현실은 이를 제공하지 못하고 있다. 특히 세계화에 따른 외국어 교육의 필요성이 강조되면서 대부분의 초등학교에 어학교육실이 계획되는 추세이다. 본 연구에서는 국제화 사회에서 향후 우리나라의 밑거름이 될 아동의 창의적 교육환경을 위한 초등학교 어학교육실의 공간분석을 통해 향후 공간계획방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 인천광역시에 소재한 초등학교 5곳의 어학교육실을 사례조사 대상지로 선정하였다. 선행연구를 통해 창의적 환경요소를 토대로 체크리스트를 개발하고 이를 분석하였다. 조사결과 어학교육실의 활동성 및 자율성을 지원하는 체험학습 형태의 공간 및 무대공간, 정보검색 공간의 계획, 그리고 이를 지원하는 가구 및, 조명등 시설계획이 우수하게 계획된 양호한 사례의 반면 그렇지 못한 사례의 경우 공간 면적이 현저하게 좁거나 일반 교실과 다르지 않은 실내 계획으로 학생의 자율성과 활동성, 쾌적성이 제한되고 있었다.
Abstract
In 21st century, policies and education methods to develop creativity of our youth have been studied nationally. Especially, it is necessary to implement foreign languages due to globalization. Most of elementary schools have plans to provide language teaching rooms. This study will provide directions to efficiently utilize space by evaluating interior environments of these language teachings rooms in elementary schools for promoting/enhancing creativity of our students in the globalized world. This study designated 5 separate schools language teaching rooms in Inchon as the test subjects.The checklist was created based on the environmental elements of encouraging creativity through the precedent studies and analyzed data from perspective of promoting creativity. The evaluation result has found that rooms that provided structures that encourage students to have pleasant learning experiences such as comfortable furniture, better lightings, and research centers were most suitable for promoting creativity. On the other hand, rooms that were not as equipped and structured resulted in less pleasant learning experiences.
