대학생의 진로결정수준과 진로준비행동의 관계에서 구직효능감의 역할

본 연구는 취업을 준비하는 대학생들의 진로결정이 적절한 진로준비행동을 수반하지 않는 이유가 낮은 구직효능감과 관련된 것인지 탐색하기 위하여 진로결정수준과 진로준비행동 간의 관계에서 구직효능감의 역할을 연구하였다. 이를 위해 영남권의 한 광역시에 소재한 4년제 대학교 3, 4학년에 재학하고 있는 남․녀 대학생 213명을 대상으로 성별과 학년에 따른 진로결정수준, 진로준비행동 및 구직효능감의 차이를 알아보고 이들 변인 간의 상호관련성을 분석한 후, 자기효능감 이론의 예측에 기초하여 진로결정수준과 진로준비행동의 관계에서 구직효능감의 매개효과를 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 검증하였다. 또한 진로결정수준과 진로준비행동을 동시에 고려하여 분류한 4개의 진로발달유형 집단에 따라 구직효능감에 있어서 유의한 차이가 있는지를 확인하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성과 학년에 따른 차이는 구직효능감에서만 남학생이 여학생에 비하여 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 진로결정수준과 진로준비행동 간에, 그리고 진로결정수준과 구직효능감 간에 유의한 정적 상관이 있었으며, 진로준비행동과 구직효능감 간에도 유의한 정적 상관이 있었다. 셋째, 진로결정수준과 진로준비행동의 관계에서 구직효능감의 부분 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 즉 진로결정수준은 진로준비행동에 직접 영향을 미칠 수 있을 뿐 아니라 구직효능감에 의해 매개되어 진로준비행동에 간접적인 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 진로발달유형 상 진로결정수준이 높지만 진로준비행동이 저조한 학생들은 진로결정수준과 진로준비행동이 모두 높은 대학생들이나, 진로결정수준이 낮은 대학생들에 비해 구직효능감이 유의하게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 대학생의 진로결정수준이 높더라도 구직효능감이 충분하지 않을 때 낮은 수준의 진로준비행동을 보일 수 있으므로 그들을 위한 진로교육 및 상담에서 진로결정을 촉진하는 개입뿐 아니라 구직효능감을 높이기 위한 노력이 이루어져야 진로준비나 취업을 위한 실제 행동을 증가시킬 수 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구의 의의, 한계점 및 후속 연구를 위한 제언이 논의되었다.
Abstract
This study investigated the role of job-search self-efficacy(JSSE) in the relationship of career decision level(CDL) and career preparation behavior(CPB) with a sample of 213 3rd- or 4th-year college students in a university in a metropolitan city in the southeast region in Korea. This study first examined the mean differences in CDL, CPB, and JSSE by gender and college years and the simple correlations among them and then tested the mediating effect of JSSE, based on a prediction from the self-efficacy theory, in the relationship of CDL and CPB and mean differences in JSSE across 4 groups of career development typology derived from CDL and CPB scores. Major results were as follows: First, male students exhibited higher JSSE than female students. Second, there were positive and moderate bivariate correlations among CDL, CPB, and JSSE. Third, JSSE was found to partially mediate the relationship between CDL and CPB, indicating that CDL not only has a direct effect on CPB but also an indirect effect on CPB by way of JSSE. Finally, college students with high CDL and low CPB exhibited the lowest JSSE than the other groups of career development typology. These findings suggest that some students with high CDL may not actively engage in CPB as they do not possess sufficient JSSE and provide an implication that interventions to increase college students' JSSF should be provided in conjunction with ones to facilitate their career decision in order to increase their actual CPB. Some limitations of this study and suggestions for subsequent studies were provided and fully discussed.
