이 연구는 지난 2009년에 시작되어 2014년에 종료된 한국디자인진흥원의 “융합형 디자인대학 육성사업”의 특성과 한계를 살펴보고, 앞으로의 융합형 디자인 교육이 보다 발전적으로 진행될 수 있는 방안을 모색한다. 이를 위해서 해당 사업의 개요 및 배경, 그리고 그것이 추진됐던 현장의 구성원들 중 특히 학생들의 경험과 기억을 찾아보고 분석한다. 이를 통해서, 융합 디자인의 제도적 이상이 그것이 속한 ‘사회’와 그 사회의 ‘문화’를 만나 실현되는 방식과 특성에 대해서 검토한다. 그럼으로써 앞으로 융합 개념을 의식하며 진행될 디자인 교육이 그것이 속한 사회 속에서 ‘디자인과 디자인 아닌 것’의 개념적 이분법을 극복하며 보다 발전적으로 수행될 수 있는 방안을 사회학적 고찰을 통해 제시한다.
Abstract
This research aims to analyse from sociological perspective, “Convergence Design College Development Project” (2009-2014) and its results, funded by KIDP and to draw up further future plans for convergence design education based on the experiences and observation of the programs of the Project. More objective analysis of the manner of epistemological and cultural comprehension of how we need to explore the object and theme of “the necessity of convergence and method” is required in order to have multi-faceted discussions on the application of convergence design education to take place in its society. Equally important as suggesting the objective of learning and becoming familiar with the theme is the process of realizing what the ground for idea of teaching is, what are the conditions of reality in which such idea would be realized. Such process would be sufficiently understood about the internal so that active convergence with the ‘external’ can be made possible. This approach also allows to think more about how convergence design will be realized where a society and its culture meets in more symmetrical ways.
