Abstract

Purpose This study aimed to design an artificial intelligence(AI) system grounded in design principles to support the microteaching evaluation of pre-service special education teachers and to explore its applicability. Methods Using a design and development research approach, design principles were derived from literature on multimodal AI, human-AI collaboration, and feedback literacy, and a prototype was developed with Streamlit. Usability evaluations with five experts, based on Nielsen’s heuristics, informed iterative refinements. Results The finalized system includes three stages—automated video analysis, AI-supported evaluation, and personalized feedback—implemented through functions like video analysis, chatbot-guided scoring, and feedback generation. The system earned high usability scores (avg. > 4.5; 5-point Likert scale), showing strong intuitiveness and reliability. Conclusion The findings highlight the feasibility and value of AI-based, human-AI collaborative tools for microteaching assessment in special education contexts.
