《나 혼자만 레벨업》의 중국 독자 수용 양상에 대한 연구 ―댓글 반응 분석을 중심으로

《나 혼자만 레벨업》은 단순한 웹툰 한 편을 넘어, 한류 콘텐츠가 어떻게 동아시아 독자와 감정적으로 연결될 수 있는지를 보여주는 하나의 사례다. 본 논문은 이 작품의 중국 내 수용 과정을 ‘팬덤 문화’, ‘주인공 캐릭터에 대한 수용’, ‘서사’, ‘문화 번역’이라는 네 축을 통해 분석했다. 첫째, 이 작품은 플랫폼 기반의 팬덤 문화 속에서 감정의 공유와 공동체적 정체성을 형성하였다. 댓글, 반복 감상, 작가에 대한 애도 표현 등은 단순한 감상 행위를 넘어서는 정서적 실천이었다. 둘째, 주인공 캐릭터에 대한 수용은 팬들이 이상적 자아를 투사하고, 정서적 동일화를 실현하는 공간이 되었으며, 외모, 윤리, 성장의 서사가 감정적 몰입을 심화시키는 핵심 요소로 작용하였다. 셋째, 이 작품은 전형적인 ‘爽文’ 장르의 구조를 따르면서도, 한국식 연출과 감성으로 재해석되어 중국 팬덤의 기대와 감성 모두를 만족시켰다. 특히 시스템 구조와 사이다 전개, 빠른 서사 전개는 중국적 장르 수용성을 견인하는 데 중요한 역할을 하였다. 이러한 친숙함과 이질성의 혼합은 작품이 혼종적 수용 구조 속에서 성공할 수 있었던 요인이 되었다. 《나 혼자만 레벨업》은 이질성과 익숙함, 감정과 시스템, 환상과 현실을 정교하게 결합한 콘텐츠로, 중국 팬덤이 보여준 수용 양상은 단순한 인기 이상의 문화적 의의를 가진다. 이 작품을 통해 우리는 디지털 시대의 감정 공동체가 어떻게 형성되고, 콘텐츠 수용의 중심에서 감정이 어떻게 작동하는지를 재확인할 수 있다. 즉 《나 혼자만 레벨업》은 ‘보는 것’에서 그치지 않고, ‘함께 느끼고 기억하는 것’으로 기능하며, 팬덤이라는 감정의 장에서 진정한 의미의 레벨업을 이룬 작품이라 할 수 있다.
Abstract
Solo Leveling is more than just a webtoon; it serves as a case study illustrating how Hallyu (Korean Wave) content can establish emotional connections with East Asian readers. This paper analyzes the reception of Solo Leveling in China across four main dimensions: fandom culture, the reception of the protagonist’s character, narrative structure, and cultural translation. First, the work fostered emotional sharing and the formation of a communal identity within a platform-based fandom culture. Practices such as commenting, repeated re-reading, and collective mourning for the artist extended beyond mere appreciation into emotional engagement. Second, the reception of the protagonist created a space for readers to project their ideal selves and achieve emotional identification. The protagonist’s visual appeal, ethical values, and growth narrative served as key factors that deepened emotional immersion. Third, while faithfully following the structure of the typical ‘Shuangwen’ (爽文) genre, the work was reinterpreted with Korean-style direction and emotional sensibility, thereby satisfying both the genre expectations and emotional needs of Chinese readers. The familiar system-based growth, cathartic plot development, and rapid storytelling played critical roles in enhancing genre affinity. This blend of familiarity and otherness contributed significantly to the work’s successful hybrid reception. Solo Leveling intricately weaves together otherness and familiarity, emotion and system, fantasy and reality. The patterns of reception observed within the Chinese fandom reveal that the work holds cultural significance that extends beyond mere popularity. Through this case, we can reaffirm how emotional communities are formed in the digital era and how emotions operate at the core of content reception. In sum, Solo Leveling functions not merely as something to ‘watch’ but as something to ‘feel and remember together’, achieving a true ‘leveling up’ within the emotional field of fandom.
