현대 사회에서 데이터 시각화는 개인의 의사결정과 행동 변화를 이끄는 중 요한 도구로 자리 잡았다. 본 연구는 느린 피드백(Slow Feedback)을 데이 터 시각화에 적용하여 사용자의 데이터 탐색 경험을 향상시키고자 하였다. 이를 위해 느린 피드백의 정의와 기존 연구 사례를 분석하여 주요 속성을 도출하고, 이를 기반으로 느린 피드백과 빠른 피드백을 구분하였다. 또한, 식단 데이터를 적용 대상으로 선정하고, 사용자 인터뷰를 통해 기존 식단 관리 애플리케이션의 문제점을 파악한 후 이를 바탕으로 느린 피드백의 설 계 방향을 수립하였다. 설계에는 피드백 제공 시점, 정보의 불완전성, 점진 적 전환, 누적정도를 반영한 시각화 방식을 포함하였다. 다이어리 스터디를 활용한 검증에서는 느린 피드백과 즉각적 피드백의 프로토타입을 통해 사 용자경험을비교하며각방식이데이터탐색경험에미치는차이를분석 하였다. 연구 결과, 느린 피드백이 데이터를 맥락적으로 이해하고 장기적인 패턴을 파악하는데 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 데이터 시각화 설계에서 느린 피드백의 잠재성을 탐구한 데 의의가 있으며, 장기적 행동 변화가 필요한 다양한 분야에서 활용될 가능성을 제시한다.
Abstract
In modern society, data visualization has become a vital tool for facilitating individual decision-making and driving behavioral changes. This study aimed to enhance users’ data exploration experience by applying Slow Feedback to data visualization. Slow Feedback was examined to identify its key attributes and distinguish it from Fast Feedback. Dietary data was selected as the application domain, and user interviews were conducted to uncover issues with current diet management applications. Based on these findings, a design direction was established, incorporating feedback timing, partial information, incremental transitions, and data accumulation. Prototypes reflecting Slow Feedback attributes were tested using a Diary Study to compare them with immediate feedback prototypes over an extended period. The results indicated that Slow Feedback could support users in understanding data within its context and facilitate long-term behavioral changes. This study explores the potential of Slow Feedback in data visualization and suggests its applicability in fields requiring sustained data management and improvement.
