본 연구는 앙리 르페브르가 제시한 공간 삼원 변증법을 활용하여 영상 설 치 예술에서 공간의 다원적 표현 방식을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 를기반으로공간의표현방식을동시대예술맥락에서고찰하고,그안에 서 나타나는 새로운 현상과 특징을 분석한다. 다양한 문헌과 자료를 바탕으 로 연구 대상을 선정하고, 1960년대 이후의 영상 설치 예술 작품을 중심으 로 사례 연구를 진행한다. 본 연구는 매체 융합 시대에 등장한 영상 설치 예술이 전통 조형 예술과 구별되는 새로운 공간 개념을 제시하며, 물리적· 가상적·문화 예술적 측면에서 공간 표현 방식을 고찰한다. 구체적으로, 본 연구는앙리르페브르의공간삼원변증법을이론적근거로삼아,영상설 치 예술에서 공간 표현 방식을 물질적 매개체와 전시공간이 결합된 물리적 공간, 상호작용과 몰입이 혼합된 가상적 공간, 개인 공간과 공공 공간이 중 첩된 문화 예술적 공간이라는 세 가지 측면에서 분석을 수행한다. 연구 결 과,동시대영상설치예술은기술과예술개념의융합속에서공간개념의 내면적 수축과 외적 확장이라는 양상을 드러낸다. 관람자의 지각적 경험은 다원적 공간 표현 방식과 연결되어 개인적 기억, 사회적 의미, 기술의 진보, 예술 개념의 변화가 교차하는 장으로 재구성된다. 본 연구는 공간 표현 방 식에 대한 이론적 기반을 제공하고, 영상 설치 예술의 공간 개념에 대한 새 로운 해석 가능성을 제시한다.
Abstract
This study explores pluralistic spatial expressions in video installation art through Henri Lefebvre’s spatial triad. Framed within contemporary art discourse, it examines how spatial representation gives rise to aesthetic and conceptual phenomena. Through literature review and analysis of key works since the 1960s, the study situates video installation within the context of media convergence. This study traces the evolution of spatial perception and emphasizes its significance in artistic and philosophical contexts. Applying Lefebvre’s theory, it identifies three spatial dimensions: physical space, grounded in material structure and exhibition context; virtual space, shaped by immersion and interaction; and cultural-artistic space, where private and public realms intersect. Findings reveal a dual dynamic of spatial contraction and expansion, producing layered, fluid environments shaped by sensory experience. This study offers a theoretical basis for spatial analysis and addresses conceptual gaps in current discourse.
