1985년부터 2005년까지 지역간 경제력 격차를 분석한 결과 정태적 척도의 경우 시간이 흐름에 따라 경제력 격차가 줄어들고 있다는 증거를 찾을 수 없었다. 특히 1998년도 이후 경제력 격차 폭이 오히려 확대되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 동태적 척도의 경우도 분석기간 내의 어떠한 연도를 기준으로 채택하더라도 β-수렴이 이루어진다는 통계적 근거는 존재하지 않았다. σ-수렴 가설의 경우 시각적으로도 시간이 흐름에 따라 수렴하지 않는다는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 단위근 검정을 통한 σ-수렴 가설 검정의 경우 역시 σ-수렴이 존재하지 않는 것으로 나오고 있다. 산업별 불균등도 분석 결과 제조업 전체의 불균등 정도가 전체 불균등을 지배한 것으로 판단되고, 부동산 및 사업서비스업 그리고 비영리 정부부문인 공공행정ㆍ국방 및 사회보장 부문의 불균등 역시 전체 불균등 정도에 큰 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다. 2000년부터 2005년까지 16개 광역자치단체들을 대상으로 지역 경제력에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 통상최소자승법(OLS), 고정효과 모형, 확률효과 모형 등을 이용하여 회귀분석한 결과 주민수에 대한 순전입자수의 비율, 주민 1인당 세입 결산액 등이 지역경제력에 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 반면, 부도율은 음(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
Based on the data set from 1985 to 2005, we have not found any evidence that the economic gap among regions in Korea has been decreasing when we apply static inequality measures. Especially we have found the gap has been increasing since 1998. With dynamic measures, we have found that neither β-convergence nor σ-convergence has happened during the same period. Based on the data set from 2000 to 2005, we have found both the ratio of net immigration resident number to total resident number and amount of local government's revenue per resident have positive effect but nonpayment rate has negative effect on the regional economic capacity in terms of GRDP per capita, which are all statistically significant.
