대학 전공 불일치가 임금에 미치는 효과

본 연구는 한국직업능력개발연구원의 「전문대ㆍ대학교 졸업생의 경제활동상태 추적조사」를 이용해 전공과 직업 사이의 괴리에 의해 발생하는 자원 배분의 비효율성을 추정하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 남자와 여자 공히 직업특화숙련을 다루는 전공을 한 자들에서 전공과 직업 사이의 불일치 확률은 낮았다. 둘째, 직업과 전공이 완전히 불일치될 때는 임금 감소 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 보다 구체적으로는 직업과 전공이 완전불일치 시 완전일치와 비교해 남자는 3.7%, 여자는 5.2% 임금을 덜 받는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 전공과 다른 곳에 취업했을 경우 임금 감소 효과는 직업특화숙련을 다루는 전공한 자에게서 더 크게 나타났다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of mismatch in degree field on wage. In doing so, we use 2005 Korea National Survey of College or Graduate school Graduates on Economic Activity. The main findings are as follows. First, the probability being mismatch is lower for those who majors degree field requiring occupation-specific skill. Second, when male(female) worker is mismatched with current in the degree field, the worker has less earnings than those who is matched with current in degree field by 3.7% (5.2%).
