본 연구는 대학졸업자들을 대상으로 과잉교육이 임금에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 한국고용연구원에서 제공하는 2017년 대졸자 직업이동 경로조사를 활용하여 분석한 결과, 과잉교육은 대학졸업자들의 임금을 유의하게 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 임금분포에 따라서 과잉교육의 효과가 어떻게 변화하는지 살펴보기 위해 무조건부 분위회귀모형을 사용하여 추정한 결과, 중위분위로 갈수록 임금감소효과가 커지는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 과잉교육을 기술 및 전공불일치를 반영하여 형식적 과잉교육과 실질적 과잉교육으로 분해하였을 때, 실질적 과잉교육이 임금을 더 크게 낮추었으며, 마찬가지로 임금분포 상에서 중위분위에서 임금감소 규모가 커지는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the wage effects of overeducation in the graduates labor market. By using GOMS2017 provided by Korea Employment Information Service, the estimated results show the overeducation statistically decreases the wage of graduates. To figure out how the overeducation varies according to wage distribution, we utilize unconditional quantile regression. The finding reveals that the overeducation reduces the wage further in the middle wage distribution. Additionally, when we decompose the overeducation into apparent and genuine overeducation to reflect the skill and major mismatch, genuine overeducation has more impact on decreasing wage compared to apparent overeducation.
