‘궁중음악 기록사’란 궁중에서 연행되었던 음악 기록의 역사를 말한다. ‘궁중음악’이란 ‘궁중’이란 공간에서 특정한 목적을 위해 연행된 음악을 이르는 것으로 넓은 의미의 樂, 즉 樂歌舞를 포함하며 ‘기록사’란 문헌을 비롯한 도상자료까지를 포함한 기록의 역사를 말하는 것이다. 궁중음악에 대한 기록은 궁중음악을 보다 온전한 형태로 연행하고 보존, 전승하기 위한 목적으로 이루어졌다. 문자를 포함한 樂譜, 舞譜, 音樂圖像 등의 방법이 기록 수단으로 동원되었으며 음악제도, 樂律, 樂懸, 악기의 제도, 儀物, 樂人의 服飾, 舞服, 궁중악인, 궁중의 공연, 음악정책, 의례제정의 역사, 궁중악기 제작 등, 여러 분야에 걸친 다양한 내용을 포함하고 있다. 그러나 궁중음악에 대한 기록 가운데는 기록의 특성상 궁중음악 전반에 관련하여 총체적으로 기록한 官撰 樂書들(樂學軌範 詩樂和聲 등)과 궁중에서 연행되는 음악을 악보로 기록한 官撰 악보류(大樂後譜 俗樂源譜 등)가 있는가 하면, 다양한 법규관련 기록 가운데 궁중음악 관련 법규 내용을 일부 포함하고 있는 기록도 있고(法典類), 궁중의 의례를 총괄적으로 논하는 가운데 궁중음악의 내용이 일부 포함된 기록(典禮書와 儀軌류 등), 實錄이나 日記, 謄錄 등에 수록되어 있는 궁중음악관련 기록, 개인의 문집에서 나타나는 궁중음악 기록, 궁중 기록화를 포함한 여러 도상자료 등이, 다양한 층위에 걸쳐 나타난다.따라서 본고에서는 조선시대 궁중음악을 기록한 일체 문헌을 주요 연구 대상으로 하되, 여러 층위의 음악기록에 대해 먼저 史的으로 개관한 후 궁중음악 기록사료의 類別 특성과 궁중음악 기록의 역사적 특징과 의미 등에 대해 전반적으로 살펴봄으로써 조선시대 궁중음악 기록과 관련된 주요 자료의 특징과 의미를 가늠해 보는 기회로 삼고자 한다.
Abstract
History of Records on Court Music in Joseon PeriodSong, Ji-won(Seoul National University)History of Records on Court Music deals with the documents on music performed in the court. Court music means the musics performed for the official purpose in the court, including instrument, song(akchang), and dance. The history of record also includes the visual texts as well as the written texts. The record on court music intended to replay, preserve, and transmit the court music in a right way. The various forms such as musical notation, dance notation, and musical iconic graph including the letter were used as a means of record. Furthermore, the contents contains a variety of spheres, such as musical rhythm, array of music instrument, ceremonial objects, costumes of performer(musician and dancer), musician in the court, performance in the court, the music policy, the history of ceremony establishment, production of court music instrument.However, among the records on court music, there are music books selected by the government like Akhak'gyoebeom(樂學軌範) or Siakhwaseong(詩樂和聲) covering the whole stream of court music and the musical notations selected by government like Dae'akhubo(大樂後譜) or Sogakwonbo(俗樂源譜) recording the music performed in the court. There are also the records on the part of regulations related with court music in codes, the records on the part of court music in books of court rite and ceremony, in the official documents, journals, personal anthology and even in the images of court paintings.This paper deals with the whole records on court music in Joseon period and looks into the historical characteristics of main materials related with the court music and their meanings, after the historical survey of the multi-layered records on court music.
