Abstract

This paper is an analysis on the aspects of family-epic in Woosan's(愚山) Boksonhwaumga. and the interpretation of its meaning. Woosan's Boksonhwaumga belongs to 'jeongi type(傳記型)' in Boksonhwaum type Gasa, but its characteristics are more complex. It is epic oriented, but at the same time it is much more didactic oriented. This complexity is significant in social history as well as literary history, especially in women history. First of all, Woosan's Boksonhwaumga was remarkablely expended, so its length is as much as 7 times, comparison with standard type. The motivation of expansion is the desire of family's properity. Standard type is a heroine's story of self-narrative, but Woosan's Boksonhwaumga overflows with family-epic based on heroine's story of self-narrative. All is subordinated and oriented to family's properity. It's a picture of Bulyeol's(閥閱) dream, and it also means the diffusion of Boksonhwaum type Gasa in Kiho(畿湖) province's upper class.
