Abstract

In this paper, the historical existence of the Korean street parade and the related aspects of traditional performances were discussed. In particular, the types and existence patterns of the Korean street parade were reclassified and defined. It was intended to supplement the research history by further discussing the Korean street parade that were not previously covered. Specifically, the Korean street parade appearing in folk games such as Narye(儺禮), Dongje(洞祭) and Eupchijaui(邑治祭儀), turtle play, cow feeding play, Gwanwon(官員) play, and lion play were classified and discussed as the Korean street parade with Byuksajingyeong(辟邪進慶). In addition, turtle play, cow feeding play, Gwanwon(官員) play, and lion play were defined as folk games with Byuksajingyeong(辟邪進慶). Meanwhile, the Korean street parade performed at Yeongchinui(榮親儀) and Samilyuga(三日遊街), a celebratory feast for those who passed the past tests of the Goryeo and Joseon periods, was classified and discussed as a the Korean street parade of celebratory ceremonies. In addition, Gyeonghang(經行) of the Goryeo and Joseon periods was included in the Korean street parade with the characteristics of the Hangsang(行像) ritual and its historical existence was discussed. Reflecting the above points, the historical existence of the Korean street parade and the related aspects of traditional performances were discussed. First, the Korean street parade of the Three Kingdoms period was dealt with in the procession of kings and officials. Then, the Korean street parade of the Goryeo and Joseon periods were divided into four types: the Korean street parade of the king's march, the Korean street parade of the Byuksajingyeong(辟邪進慶), the Korean street parade of the Hangsang(行像) ritual, and the Korean street parade of the celebratory consciousness. Through this study, it is hoped that there will be an opportunity to examine the historical existence of the Korean street parade and the related aspects of traditional performances in general.
