초록
This research surveyed the conditions of costume relics excavated or handed down from the Gangwon-do region and studied the characteristics of its regional costume. Relics from Chuncheon, Jeongseon, Pyeongchang, Gangneung, and Wonju were studied. The results of this study of the preservation and current status of Gangwon-do costume relics are as follows. First, Gangwon-do features advanced seasonal clothing, particularly cold weather clothing and hot weather clothing. Cold weather hats and footwear to protect against the winter weather were particularly developed. Clothing incorporating fur, silk, cotton, or quilted wool were also worn. Second, the Gangwon-do region emphasized Dopo as part of wedding ceremonies, and further efforts should be made to establish the Dopo of Choi Kyung Sun, which was excavated from Gangneung as a representative article of Gangwon-do clothing. Third, we can see the variety and changing trends in costume. Based on the study of Jeogori, we can observe the distinctive features of Jeogori by each time period. The Heojangjeogori stored at Woljeongsa Sungbo Museum is the oldest existing example. In particular, several Po were excavated from Gangwon-do, which characterize the historical costume of the region. The earliest relics of Wonsam still exist, and the characteristic colors of those of Gangneung through modern Wonsam examples were confirmed. The set of wedding clothing and the Wonsam and accessories of the wife of Lee Dan Ha are undoubtedly significant artifacts in understanding the components of the wedding ceremonial costume of the Gangwon-do region. There were limitations in examining the features and characteristics of Gangwon-do costume based on existing relics and materials. The possibility of losing current costume relics from inadequate preservation efforts, due to a lack of appreciation, was also observed.
