대학생의 중도탈락의도의 변화 추이와 영향 요인

초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학생들의 중도탈락의도 변화추이를 확인하고, 초기치와 기울기에 미치는 개인요인, 가정요인, 학교요인을 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국교육개발원의 한국교육종단조사 7~9차년도 데이터를 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구대상은 총 2,361명이었고, 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생들의 중도탈락의도는 시간이 경과하면서 감소하는 추이를 보였다. 둘째, 개인요인으로 성별과 교외아르바이트유무가, 가족요인은 가정의 소득과 부모의 관여가, 학교요인은 대학소재지, 등록금, 대학만족도, 학업태만, 교수와의 교류, 선후배와의 교류 등 모든 요인이 중도탈락의도의 초기치에 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 중도탈락의도 기울기에 통계적으로 유의미한 개인요인과 가정요인은 없었다. 학교요인에서는 대학소재지, 등록금, 대학만족과 선후배와의 교류가 영향을 미쳤다. 대학소재지가 수도권에 있는 경우, 대학만족도가 높을수록, 선후배와의 교류가 많을수록 중도탈락의도의 감소율을 더 감소시켰다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구의 의의와 한계점을 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the trends in the college students’ dropout intention and to verify individual factors, family factors, and school factors affecting the initial values and inclination. For this purpose, we analyzed the 7th ~ 9th year data of the Korean Education Longitudinal Survey conducted by the Korean Educational Development Institute. A total of 2,361 samples were tested, and the results of the study are as follows: First, the dropout intention of college students showed a decreasing trend over time. Second, the initial values of the dropout intention were influenced by individual factors such as gender and presence/absence of out-of-school part time jobs and family factors such as household income and parental involvement. All school factors including college location, tuition, college satisfaction, academic neglect, exchange with professors, exchange with seniors and juniors exerted an influence. Third, in the case of the factors affecting the inclination of the dropout intention, there were no statistically significant variables in individual factors and family factors. In terms of school factors, college location, tuition, college satisfaction, and exchange with seniors and juniors exerted an influence. When the college is located in the metropolitan area, the higher the college satisfaction, the more interactions with seniors and juniors, the lower the dropout intention. Based on these results, the implications and limitations of this study are suggested.
