시설청소년의 자립준비정도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구

시설청소년들이 퇴소 후 사회의 일원으로 잘 적응하기 위해서는 시설을 떠나기 전 자립을 위한 준비를 체계적으로 갖추도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구는 시설청소년들을 대상으로 하여 이들의 자립준비정도에 영향을 미치는 요인들은 어떠한 것이며 그 영향력은 어떠한지 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전국 아동청소년 보호자립지원시설에 거주중인 11세 이상 시설청소년들을 대상으로 조사를 수행하여 분석하였다. 아동양육시설의 908명, 공동생활가정의 203명, 중장기청소년쉼터의 133명 청소년들을 대상으로 면접조사를 실시하였으며, 성별, 연령, 자아존중감, 건강상태, 아르바이트경험, 진로관련 프로그램 참여정도, 현시설 거주기간, 시설종사자와의 유대, 시설친구와의 유대, 학업성취도, 교사와의 관계 11개의 변인이 자립준비도에 미치는 영향력은 어떠한지 다중회귀분석을 통해 검토하였다. 분석 결과 성별, 연령, 자아존중감, 주관적 건강상태, 아르바이트경험, 진로준비프로그램 참여, 시설선생님과의 애착, 시설친구와의 애착, 학교성적 변인이 자립준비도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 시설청소년들의 자립준비도를 향상시키기 위해서는 보다 체계적이고 다양한 내용의 자립준비프로그램이 제공해야 하며, 학업성취도를 높일 수 있도록 교육 부분에 유의한 개입이 이루어질 필요가 있다.
Abstract
Preparing adolescents in residential care for living independently before being discharged from residential facilities is very important for them to successfully adapt as members of society. The purpose of this study was to determine which factors influence the level of preparation for independent living of adolescents in residential care and just how influential they are. Research data was collected by interviewing 908 adolescents currently living in child rearing facilities, 203 in group homes, and 133 in youth shelters, all aged 11 years and above. Multiple regression analysis was used to anayze eleven factors affecting preparation levels for independent living; gender, age, self-esteem, health status, part-time job experience, participation in career-related programs, the length of time spent in residentail care, attachment to residential facility staff, attachment to friends in residental facilities, academic achievement and relationships with teachers. Results show that as the factors, gender, age, self-esteem, health status, part-time job experience, participation in career related programs, attachment to residential facilities’ staff, attachment to friends in residential facilities, and academic achievement are significantly effective. To increase the levels of preparation for independent living of adolescents in residential care, we need to provide more systematic and various preparation programs and make significant interventions in education to promote academic achievement.
