아동기 건강불평등에 관한 연구: 아동의 생활수준과 건강문제 간 사회적 지지의 조절효과 검증

초록

최근 사회양극화가 심화되면서 아동기 건강불평등 문제에 대한 인식 또한 높아지고 있다. 본 연구는 사회경제적 수준이 아동기의 신체적 정신적 건강문제에 미치는 영향이 어떠한지 살펴보고 사회경제적 수준과 건강문제의 관계에서 가족, 교사, 친구의 사회적 지지가 지니는 조절효과를 검증함으로써 아동기 건강불평등에 대한 이해를 높이고 건강불평등을 완화시키기 위한 방안을 찾고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 경기지역의 18개 지역아동센터를 통해 355명의 아동을 설문조사하였으며, 위계적회귀분석을 통해 조절효과를 검증하였다. 분석 결과 사회경제적 수준 변인은 아동의 신체적 정신적 건강문제에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 사회경제적 수준에 따른 건강불평등 현상이 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다. 나아가 가족의 지지 변인은 사회경제적 수준과 신체적 정신적 건강의 관계에서 조절효과를 지니는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 볼 때 빈곤 아동의 신체적 정신적 건강을 증진시키기 위해 사회적인 관심과 노력을 기울여야 할 필요성이 크며, 이와 함께 빈곤가정 가족의 관계를 증진시키는 노력이 필요함을 알 수 있다.

Abstract

In recent years, the awareness of the issue of childhood health inequality has raised with social polarization. This study examines the effects of socio-economic level on the physical and mental health problems of childhood and examines the moderating effects of social support of family, teachers and friends in relation to socio-economic level and health problems to find out ways to improve understanding of childhood health inequality and mitigate it. For this purpose, 355 children were surveyed through 18 community child centers in Seoul-Gyunggi area. The moderating effect was verified by hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that socio economic level variable had a significant effect on the physical and mental health problems of children and it was confirmed that health inequality existed. Furthermore, family support variable has a moderating effect on the relationship between socioeconomic level and physical and mental health. There is great need for social attention and effort to improve the physical and mental health of poor children and it is also necessary to make effort to improve the family relations of families in poverty.
