This study analyzed the consonant-vowel sequences (CV sequences) of underlying and surface forms in native Korean, sino-Korean, and foreign loanwords. 26,759 words were selected as the sample of this study. Among them, native Korean words are 3,493 (13.95%), sino-Korean words are 20,748 (77.54%), and foreign loanwords are 2,518 (9.41%). We measured the frequencies of CV sequences in each lexical stratum and visualized the similarity relations among consonants and among vowels in the distribution of CV sequences. This analysis shows that there is a noticeable difference in the distributional characteristics of CV sequences among lexical strata in Korean and that phonological operations do not cause the meaningful change of them in each lexical stratum.
