이 연구의 목적은 20세기 장편가사 <東遊感興錄>에 나타난 식민지 근대 체험과 일본 체험의 의미를 밝히는 것이다. <東遊感興錄>은 1920년대 일제 식민정책의 일환으로 기획된 일본 문명 시찰단에 참여한 경험을 그린 장편가사로 20세기 이후 가사의 진로를 확인할 수 있는 작품이다. 이 작품은 이국 체험, 문화충격을 장형의 가사로 담아내었다는 점에서 조선 후기 사행가사의 전통을 계승하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 공장, 병원, 학교 등 일본의 근대상을 소상히 기록한 이 이 작품은 동시에 식민지 근대에 대한 성찰의 근거도 마련해준다. 일본의 발전상에 놀라움을 거듭하면서 시찰을 기획한 일본의 의도에 포섭되어 가는 과정은 ‘조선의 근대화’라는 미명 하에 진행된 일제의 식민정책이 향촌의 개인에게까지 주입되어 가는 과정이기도 하다. 따라서 이 작품은 가사가 근대라는 새로운 시대에 어떤 방식으로 존재했는지 보여주는 20세기 가사 자료인 동시에 근대 체험이 개인의 내면을 어떻게 바꾸었는지 알려주는 근대체험의 보고서이고, 또한 일제가 어떤 방식으로 개인을 순응적 존재로 만들었는지 증명하는 시대의 기록이기도 하다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to present a meaning of the experience of colonial modernity and of Japan as seen in <Dongyugamheungrok>, a full length - Kasa in 20th century. <Dongyugamheungrok> is the full length- Kasa that illustrates participating experience in modernization observation party to Japan being planned as part of colonial policy by Japan and is to set out the direction of 20th century Kasa. From the viewpoint of putting foreign country experience and cultural shock in full length- Kasa, this piece can be regarded to succeed tradition of diplomatic Kasa the late of Chosun Dynasty. This piece which recorded modernized Japan in great detail such as factories, hospitals and schools is to set the basis of reflection of colonial modernity. Repeatedly surprised at Japan's development, the process of being won over at Japan's will as the observation planned shows as to how Japan's colonial policy, developed under the excuses of 'modernization of Chosun' got infused into rural individual. Therefore, this piece is not only 20 century's Kasa text that shows how Kasa existed in new modern times but also the report of experience of modernization that shows how the experience changed inner side of the individual. It also the report of period that proves as to how Japan turned one individual into subordinating being.
