한국인 성인 영어 학습자의 리듬 및 약화 모음 연구

본 연구는 한국인 성인 영어 학습자의 수준별 리듬과 약화 모음 구현 양상을 다양한 리듬 지수를 사용하여 분석한 것이다. 분석 결과 다양한 리듬 지수 중 학습자의수준에 따라 %V, ΔV, VarcoV, VI 지수는 차이를 보였다. 그 중 %V, VarcoV, VI 지수에서 상위 학습자 집단이 강세 기반, 하위 학습자 집단은 음절 기반 리듬을 보이는 것으로 드러났다. 발화 속도와의 상관관계 분석 결과, 강세 기반 리듬을 구현할수록 발화 속도가 빨라지는 것으로 드러났다. 약화 모음의 포먼트 분산에서는 상위 학습자 집단과 영어 원어민 집단이 하위 학습자 집단에 비해 중심에 집중되어있는 것으로 드러나, 상위 학습자 집단이 약화 모음을 더 잘 구현하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
Abstract
This paper investigated the English of Korean adult learners using various rhythm metrics. It also analyzed the dispersion of reduced vowels across three levels of English proficiency comparing Korean adults learning English to native speakers of English. High proficiency speakers used a more stress-based rhythm, while low proficiency speakers used a syllable-based rhythm in terms of %V, VarcoV, and VI. Speakers who produced a more stress-based rhythm tended to also have a faster speech rate. Also the vowel space measured in F1 and F2 of reduced vowels in high proficiency speakers was more centralized than that in low proficiency speakers.
