Abstract

Fundamental outlook on fairy tale and Pure Mentalism - A study on Jeong, ChaeBong Jang, YoungWoo (Dongguk Univ.) Jeong, ChaeBong is a writer who has a firm belief of 'God is a fairy tale'. 'God' who he thinks is not one and the only Christian God but a being which consoles and sublimates the life of human being with an innocence of a child which is a spiritual hometown. The fairy tale of Jeong, ChaeBong is classified into four types, i.e. the world of daily life reflected in the innocence of a child, recomposition of tales and legends, a world of fabulous imagination and initiation stories He did not only break the conservative ideas which suggest fairy tales are for children, but also reclaimed new field of so-called 'adults fairy tales'. As a consequence, even though Korean fairy tales had reached a new golden age in 1990's, fairy tales had to part from younger readers. Jeong, ChaeBong's fairy tales have not only awakened the meaning of the 'The Childish Mind' to the readers continuously but also dealt with beautiful noble sacrifices made by the small and trifle beings and the spirit of share. In this sense, we might say, he is the most exemplary fairy tale author of our generation having an outstanding experimental spirit.
