김기홍은 함경도 지역의 品官으로서, 그의 신분적 위상은 향촌 사족과 농민의 중간에 자리하고 있다. 김기홍은 스스로 개척하여 마련한 삶의 터전에서 직접 노동에 종사하는 생활을 영위하였는데, 그의 문학 작품은 이처럼 독특한 신분적 정체성과 생활 환경에서 창작된 것이다. 특히 김기홍의 문학 작품은 양식적인 측면에서 한시와 한문산문, 국문시가를 아우른다는 점에서, 표기수단과 양식이 어떠한 의도로 선택되었는지에 대해 시사하는 바가 크다.김기홍에게 한시는 지식인으로서의 위상을 확인하고 중앙 문인들과 교류를 맺기 위한 수단이었다. 따라서 그의 한시 창작은 待他的 의도, 즉 ‘남에게 말하기’ 위한 목적에서 비롯된 것으로, 강한 이념지향성을 보이고 있다. 반면 김기홍의 국문시가는 타 지역 향촌 사족의 국문시가에 비해 이념적 성격이 탈각되어 있으며, 그의 생활 공간은 농민의 삶의 터전으로 묘사되고 있다. 이처럼 김기홍의 국문시가는 自足的 의도, 즉 ‘나에게 말하기’ 위한 목적에서 창작되었으며, 작자의 신분적, 지역적 특수성을 그대로 반영하고 있다. 그러나 발화 대상을 상정함에 따라 이러한 국문시가의 성격은 미묘하게 변질되어, 신분적, 지역적 특수성, 그리고 생계를 영위하기 위한 노동의 의미 등 국문시가에 드러나던 본래적 면모는 모두 사라지고, 士의 한가로운 은거 생활만이 표면에 나타나고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.
Abstract
Kim Kihong‘s literary works runs the gamut of Chinese character poetry and poetry and song written in Korean language. Kim Kihong‘s research on poetry and songs has significant implication as to selection of method of transcription and genre. Kim Kihong led a self-sustaining life doing physical labor in Hamgyŏng province. His writing of Chinese character poetry was a means to keep an intimate relation with government officials and they showed strong ideological propensity. And his writing of Chinese character poetry was based on complete awareness of his identity as a literati. His poetry and song written in Korean language were lack of element of Neo-Confucianism compared to the poetry and song written in Korean language of local gentry, and his living environment was described as that of a farmer. The nature of poetry and song written in Korean language changed in the course of contacting with others. Their original purpose of expressing the issue of class, local characteristics and the meaning of labor disappeared but a free and unoccupied life of Confucian scholar became a major theme of them.
