“玉溜山莊詩話”의 특성에 대하여

Abstract

Oklyusanjansihwa(玉溜山莊詩話), written by Yonmin Lee Kawon (淵民 李家源, 1917-2000), is the last collection of classical chinese poetry tales (漢詩詩話集) which was presented in 1969. However, it not only succeeded traditional method of poetry tales (詩話), but also shows modern approach to the traditional works. It was written in classical Chinese in the age of modern Korean, Hangul. It includes the works from the very first poems recorded in the Korean peninsula to the contemporary writers. In the background of its writing, there lied his understanding that classical chinese has been used as a mean of communication and literal foundation for thousands of years in East Asia. He forecasted well in advance that classical chinese literature would be not only one of the important parts in Korean literature but also the effective form of common literal language in the forthcoming era of East Asia. Oklyusanjansihwa is composed of introduction, subject(1), subject(2) and conclusion, just like the form of modern paper. In its content, he had clear intentions of being fair and objective as well as specifying sources and correcting errors of the former poetry tales. Judging that new form and content was needed according to the currents of modern academism, he tried to make it a kind of research paper. Oklyusanjansihwa shows features more rigorous than traditional poetry tales while more private and individual than the history of literature. It can be regarded as a material in the study of literature, at the same time it was a study of literature itself. More importantly, it made possible to continue the history of classical Chinese poetry in Korea.
