Abstract
French Structuralism defined the subject of literary research as literarity. Literarity from the structuralist point of view means the distinctiveness of the autonomous and inherent discourse composition of literary texts. From this point of view, literature means only a kind of institutionalized conventional cultural domain. However, the structuralist point of view, which defines literarity as a method of organizing a special and autonomous linguistic semantic network of literary texts, is too narrow a concept to encompass the historicity of the concept of literature itself. This is because the concept of literature itself is a product of modernity, and the process of forming modern literature was the process of opening artistic writing to the overall political, economic, social, and cultural changes of the time. Jacques Rancière’s Politics of Literature makes us reconsider the concept of literature and literarity in the historical dimension. When literature is defined as a new form of artistic writing that is open to all subjects and areas, literarity means the fluidity and instability of literary texts that constantly dismantle and reconstruct the boundary between the literary and the non-literary.
