초록

The study examines the effects of written and video feedback on the revisions, writing skills, and perceptions of Korean EFL elementary students. The participants were 47 fourth-grade elementary students who attended seven weekly 85-minute English writing lessons. They were divided into two groups. One group received written feedback, while the other received screencast video feedback on their initial English writing, focusing on language and content. The students’ incorporation of teacher feedback into their revision were analyzed. To evaluate the students’ writing skills, pre- and post-tests were administered, and a survey was conducted to gather their opinions on teacher feedback. The results showed that the two feedback modes had no differential effects on the students’ successful feedback incorporation rates. However, the video feedback group exhibited a tendency to make more substantial revisions when addressing content feedback compared to the written feedback group. Both groups perceived teacher feedback as predominantly positive, but the video feedback group displayed a more positive perception than the written feedback group. After the seven-week lessons, both groups showed improvement in accuracy and fluency in the post-test paragraph writing, but there was no significant difference between the groups. Further research is necessary to determine the long-term effectiveness of the two feedback modes on Korean elementary students’ English writing development.

Further research is necessary to determine the long-term effectiveness of the two feedback modes on Korean elementary students’ English writing development.
