일제강점기 부산지역의 스포츠 변천과정에 대한 고찰-『조선시보』의 기사분석을 중심으로-

본고는 발행지 부산과 그 주변 지역의 변화와 발전상을 주로 전하는『조선시보(朝鮮時報)』를 대상으로 일제강점기 기간 중 부산을 중심으로 스포츠가 어떤 변천과정을 거쳤는지 알아보기 위한 것이다. 스포츠 관련 기사를 분석한 결과 스포츠 종목은 총 27종목의 단일스포츠 종목과 3종류의 종합경기대회가 확인되었고, 스포츠의 총 기사건수는 단일종목과 종합경기대회를 포함하여 총 4,013건이 확인되었다. 스포츠 종목 및 기사건수를 연도별로 살펴보면, 1910년대 6종목/년(연평균 기사수 38건), 1920년대 15종목/년(연평균 기사수 183건/년), 1930년대 17종목/년(연평균 기사수 187건/년), 1940년 15종목(80건)의 변화가 확인되었다. 종목의 특징으로는 ‘씨름’을 제외한 대부분의 스포츠 종목이 일본을 통하여 도입된 것으로 파악되었으며, 1910년대는 주로 일본인들에게 인기 있는 일본 전통스포츠 위주의 종목들이, 1920년대 이후로는 다양한 서양스포츠 종목들이 급격히 증가하였다. 1930년대 이후로는 만주사변에서 중일전쟁 · 태평양전쟁으로 이어지는 전쟁시기임에도 불구하고 스포츠 종목 수뿐만 아니라 기사건수도 줄지 않고 증가하는 특징을 보였다. 이와 같은 특징들을 통하여 일제강점기에도 스포츠의 도입기(1910년대), 다양화기(1920년대), 정착기(1930년대 이후) 의 변천과정이 있음을 알 수 있었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the change process of sports centered on the Busan area during the Japanese colonial period targeting The Chosen Jiho newspaper published in the Busan area. As a result of analyzing sports-related articles, it was confirmed that there were 27 single events and 3 types of sports Comprehensive game, and the number of articles was 4,013 in total. The number of sports events and articles by year was 6 in the 1910s (38 articles per year), 15 articles/year in the 1920s (183 articles per year), 17 articles/year in the 1930s (187 articles per year), and 15 events (80 articles) in 1940. As for the characteristics of the sport, it was found that most sports except 'ssireum' were introduced through Japan, and in the 1910s, traditional Japanese sports-oriented sports, which were mainly popular with Japanese people, Since the 1920s, Western sports events have increased rapidly. Since the 1930s, despite the war period from the Manchurian Incident to the Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific War, not only the number of sports events but also the number of articles showed a tendency to increase without decreasing. Through these points, it can be seen that even during the Japanese colonial period, there was a transition process of sports introduction (1910s), diversification (1920s), and settlement period (after 1930s).
