재일문학 작품의 표지 이미지에 드러난 시각의 정치: 아쿠타가와상 수상작을 중심으로

Abstract

This paper investigates the meaning of the cover images of Zainichi's literary works. So far, there are four works of Zainichi literature that have won the Akutagawa Prize. So far, four works of Japanese literature have won the Akutagawa Prize. Coincidentally, at the time of the award, a work by a Japanese author was also awarded the prize. Thus, we compared the book covers of four Zainichi literary works with those of Japanese authors. Specifically, we analyzed the correlation between the cover design of eight works and the tile and content of each work. The results are summarized as follows: First, two of the four Zainichi literary works that won the Akutagawa Prize represented images related to the work's content. However, the images reproduce negative elements such as 'distorted family' or 'incomplete individual' to a maximum. Second, the remaining two of the four Zainichi literature works that won the Akutagawa Prize reproduced images unrelated to the work's content. Images that emphasized negative elements, such as the exclusion of the 'Korean people' and the reinforcement of 'incomplete individuals', reproduced the conflicting images. Third, three of the four Japanese works that won the Akutagawa Prize jointly with the Japanese literature faithfully reproduced the content of the work in the cover image. The other one had an image that contradicted the content of the work. However, all of the the four works by Japanese authors featured positive images on their covers, in contrast to the Zainichi literary works. In other words, the disciplinary power of the image of “Zainichi” was evident on the covers of his literary works.
