이 논문의 목적은 강원대학교 정문, 후문, 동문을 사례로 코로나19 시기 이후 거리경제의 변천 과정에서 나타나는 주요 쟁점들을 경제지리학적 측면에서 고찰하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 지역소멸시대에 있어서 지역발전에 미치는 대학의 역할이 점차로 강조되고 있다. 지역경제에 있어서 대학의 붕괴는 지역경제의 붕괴로 이어지기도 한다. 그러므로 대학의 거리경제는 지역 청년의 경제가 중장년으로 구성되는 가계 경제로 이어지는 가교 역할을 하며, 이는다시 청년의 후속세대를 위한 교육으로 이어지는 세대적 가교 역할을 한다. 강원대학교 사례는 코로나19 시기 이후각 상권이 급격한 침체를 경험하고 있으며, 이는 각 상권이 지닌 서비스 거점 기능과 연계기능의 연결성 특징에 따라서 다른 반응을 나타내고 있다.
Abstract
The aim of this article is to explore some issues on the change of the economy of a street in the context of economic geography by taking case studies of the main, rear and east gate of Kangwon National University (hereafter, KNU) after COVID-19. The era of regional extinction, the collapse of a university is used to link to that of regional economy. Therefore, the economy of the street in a university plays a critical role in making a bridge between the economy of the regional youth generation and that of the middle-aged generation. Within this context, this crucially refers to the education of the next generation. Since then KNU’ economies of three streets have undergone the severe decline with respect to their business cycle, and this trend and tendency vary according to the characteristic of the connectivity such as the relationship between hub and spoke functions of the service industry in each economy of the street.
