본 연구는 경기도 서북부 지역의 대표적 축제로 인정받고 있는 파주 장단콩 축제를 대상으로 그 형성과정과 관광특성 및 축제의 효과를 사진을 이용하여 고찰하였다. 파주 장단콩 축제는 세계적 환경생태의 보고인 DMZ라는 지리적 입지를 이용해 수도권 북부 지역축제의 하나로 자리매김하였다. 그러나 우리나라 타 지역의 유사한 축제와의 경쟁에서 살아남기 위해서는 장단콩의 국산콩 대표브랜드로의 지속적 육성, 축제관광객의 양적 확대보다는 질적 수준 향상을 목표로 하는 정책, 파주시 다른 축제들과의 연계를 강화한 마케팅 및 농업, 첨단산업, 지역문화 및 레저산업을 활용한 관광전략을 도입할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the background, characteristics and effects of Paju Jangdan Bean Festival, reputed as one of the festivals representing those of northwestern region of Gyeonggi-do in Korea. Paju Jangdan Bean Festival has been established as a model festival in the north part of the capital area, taking advantage of its ecological conditions renowned world-wide and its geographical locality near DMZ. However, in order to compete with nations? other similar festivals in other regions, it is necessary to promote Jangdan beans as our native model bean brand, attract more tourists in term of their quality rather than their quantity, stage the marketing strategies in linkage with other festivals in Paju and introduce a sight-seeing strategies combining agriculture, high-end industry, local culture and leisure industry.
