관광자원으로서 세계유산에 대한 화산 경관 특성

2007년 ‘제주 화산섬 및 용암동굴’이 세계자연유산으로 등록되었다. 자연유산은 과거 관람위주의 획일적 대중관광의 대상이었지만 오늘날의 신관광개념에서는 개성추구와 특별주제를 지양한다는 점에서 새로운 흐름이 진행되고 있다. 대표적으로 생태관광, 역사문화관광, 모험관광, 휴양관광 등과 같이 참여와 체험 중심의 다양한 대안관광으로 관광형태가 전환되고 있다. 세계 유산은 이러한 생태관광이나 모험관광의 새로운 관광객체이며, 이를 통하여 관광객의 자아실현 요구를 충족시킬 수 있게 된다. 화산지형과 관련된 세계유산은 화산활동에 따른 지형 및 지질학적 특성의 중요성뿐만 아니라 자연미와 심미적 중요성, 생태 및 식물학적 중요성이 함축되어 있는 것이다. 그러나 보존과 유산지역내 거주민의 관점에서 일부 보호구역의 미래는 ‘동식물은 구하고 거주민을 몰아낸다’는 점에서 불투명하며, 보호 및 보존을 목적으로 하는 많은 지역에 있어서 많은 관광객들의 유입으로 인한 보존의 불투명이 전제되어 보다 현명한 대책과 인류의 노력이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
?eju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes?was listed to the World heritage in 2007. But the natural tourism resource was subjected to the seeing of landscape uniformly, the New Tourism have flowed to the want of the personality and the special themes, today. The tourism pattern have transferred to the alternative tourism of between participation-oriented and activity-oriented such as eco-tourism, historic culture tourism and adventure tourism. The World Heritage related of the volcano is the new tourism object, the tourist is satisfied with the needs and wants of self-actualization. Because the World Heritage related of the volcano implicates the importance of the geomorphology and geology as well as the natural and aesthetic beauty or the ecology and biology, it plays an important role as the resource of the new tourism. Finally, we think that it is necessary to a wise plan and human effort because the future of the preservation area obscure to be caused to restrict only the protection and inflow the tourist.
