The purpose of this study is to improve efficiency of contemporary dance class by providing various methods of piano improvisation. This study suggests basic patterns of accompaniments within four categories of effort by R. V. Laban: Time, Weight, Space and Flow. Time category includes tempo, meter, rhythm and phrase. Weight category includes dynamic, accent, range and tone color. Space category includes harmony, interval and mode. Flow category includes adding texture, pattern and pedaling. As the result of this study, it is effective to use multi meters, cross beats, drum beats, dynamics, accents, wide ranges of piano, harmonic progressions, mode and various playing patterns.
