초록

The purpose of this study was to acknowledge the contemporary dance whose form or concept has become different with a preceding project. The concept of contemporary dance is discovered by a subjective experience, rather than an objective or rational understanding, so this study examined the ideology and social concern of contemporary dance to extract the concept of contemporary dance. Contemporary dance requires participation as it is characterized by dependence on social interaction through dance. If dance deviates from self-creation, temporarily or not, dance combines with other philosophies, such as Education, Theater, Folk Studies, Humanities, and Communication, to generate new knowledge or meaning. Contemporary dance that approaches and exists in life in broad areas is one of the social acts and performing arts of mankind. Contemporary dance is participatory dance where dancers with different approaches attempt to comprehend one another's movements to see what can be achieved by each approach. This type of participation ultimately expands the meaning by the area or degree of social concern. Contemporary dance is a form of dance where an artistic act that used to be a personal act in the independent realm is mentioned in the social realm and comprehended as a form of social act. It is signified as an art in the triangular relationship of myself, my body, and the world. In case of concert dance that focuses on the fact that modern dance of the age of modernism where knowledge is supplemented was all about appreciation and discoursed in the knowledge world. Contemporary dance, on the other hand, is participatory dance that is self-expressive or non-language or post-literary reproduction of thoughts. Unlike other forms of dance that concentrates on individuals and their personalities, participatory dance, which is contemporary dance, inevitably requires third-party intervention. Although it is constantly asked whether this act is a form of art, dance up to the age of modernism was a symbolic act of art when contemporary art, a form of social participatory dance, is an actual act of art. The act of contemporary dance presents our awareness with symbolic testimonies in the context of cultural history (or art history) and takes us to a broad range of artistic disputes within a system where dance is naturally involved with the society. In this respect, dance experts are required to have socially engaged professionalism and sense of artistic responsibility.
