카프 문학비평의 낭만주의적 기원 - 임화와 김남천 비평에 대한 소고(小考)

카프 해체 이후 임화와 김남천 모두 카프 문학의 공식주의적 오류를 지양하는 대신에 새로운 비평적 준거를 확립하고자 고심했지만, 주체 재건의 방식에 있어 분명한 차이를 보여준다. 그것은 ‘생활’이라는 용어를 재전유하는 방식의 격차에서 비롯한다. 임화의 경우 ‘사실’로부터 분리시키거나 ‘생활’과 접합시키는 방식을 통해 ‘현실’ 개념의 담론적 권능을 재탈환하고자 했다. 하지만 김남천은 ‘현실’에 내재된 어떤 본질을 여전히 고수하려 한다는 점을 들어 임화를 비판했다. ‘현실’이란 어떤 완미한 조화의 이상 속에 있는 것이라기보다 오히려 그 반대다. 그래서 김남천은 작가나 주인공의 분열된 의식을 전제로 삼지 않고서는 주체 재건이 불가능하다고 역설했다. 「유다적인 것과 문학」에서 ‘자기 고발’을 주체 재건의 핵심으로 내세웠던 김남천은 『1945년 8․15』에서도 주인공을 형상화하는 가운데 무엇보다 자기 반성의 수준을 그 전형성의 기준으로 삼았다. 주인공 지원이 자신과 자신이 속한 공동체의 자기고발을 통해 보여준 통찰은 정치와 문학의 관계 속에서 문학이 무엇을 할 수 있는가를 예증해준다.
Abstract
After the dissolution of the KAPF, instead of rejecting fallacies of proletariat formalism in the KAPF, Im, Hwa and Kim, Namcheon have pondered over the establishment of new critical criterion, but both show clear-cut difference in the method of reconstructing ‘Subjectivity’. This difference is attributed to the disagreement in the way of re-appropriating the term ‘life’. Im, Hwa has tried to reclaim the discursive authority of notion of ‘reality’ by detaching it from ‘fact’ or attaching it to ‘life’. However, Kim, Namcheon, opposing him, adheres to a certain kind of essence which is immanent in ‘reality’. ‘Reality’ rests in the ideal of obstinate harmony, but quite the contrary. Therefore, Kim, Namcheon has emphasized that it is impossible to rebuild ‘Subjectivity’ without contemplating the dissociation of consciousness of authors and leading characters. Kim, Namcheon has set forth ‘self-accusation’ as the core of re-gaining ‘Subjectivity’ in “the things of Judas and Literature”, and he also established the standard of archetype for the level of ‘self-accusation’ in embodying leading characters in August 15, 1945. The reflection or insight, which Jiwon, the hero in the novel, has shown through the self-accusation by him and his community, provides examples of what literature can achieve between politics and literature circles.
