Abstract

This paper's aim is to articulate ideas and teaching-methodology of Confucius's philosophy in contrast with plato' western classical philosophy. The ideas and teaching-methodology of plato's classical philosophy is manifested on "the similes of cave" in The Republic of Plato. Confucius said, "at fifteen, I had my mine bent on learning, At thirty, I stood firm, At forty, I had no doubt, At fifty I knew the decrees of Heaven, At sixty, my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth, At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right." This dissertation's aim is to articulate the ideas and teaching-methodology of 'learning to become a sage' based upon his saying. Confucian analects's key concept is jen. Confucius's concept of human path is realization of humanness. Confucius reestablished jen as universal Virtue. Therefore, confucius said, "If a man bo the virtue proper to humanity, what has to do with the rites of propriety and music?". Confucian's human relationship is none other than conscientiousness and altruism. Confucian's philosophy is a typical of classical philosophy.
