조선시대 표류노드 시각망 구축 과정 - 표류 기록의 의미 요소 추출을 중심으로 -

Abstract

This study introduced the process of building the visual network of drift nodes. The process for building “the visual network of drift nodes in the Joseon Dynasty” is as follows. Step 1 extracts data from public and private literature containing records on drifts in the Joseon Dynasty, focusing on drifters, purpose of sailing, cause of drift, period of drift, place of landing, date of repatriation, etc. With basic data for implementing “the visual network of drift nodes,” Step 2 visits and surveys the places of departure and landing, and has opportunities for correction and efficient academic activities through consultation with experts in modeling the optimal implementation of drift node visual networks. Based on the previous works, Step 3 structures drift‐related data and prepared image materials, and visualizes them on an electronic map. This is reproducing such data into visual contents by networking various drift‐related elements based on their relations. The map is provided in hypertext in connection to various types of information including not only personal information such as the age, gender, and government post of the drifters but also drift route, cause of drift, purpose of sailing, period of drift, images or videos of the place of landing, life and associated people in the place of landing, and literature containing drift records. The last step publishes a book with the outcome of these academic activities including various items of humanities knowledge related to drifts in the Joseon Dynasty planned and built into digital contents, a serious of processes, developed contents, etc. Now materials for implementing the visual network are being organized. Based on the organized drift‐related data, further research should be made on how to develop “the visual network of drift nodes in the Joseon Dynasty.” That is, we need to explore digital technologies for visualization, and methods for the optimized implementation of data. The optimal implementation will be chosen through an advisory council and the visual network will be implemented.
