숙선옹주(1793-1836)는 조선 22대 정조와 수빈 박씨사이에서 태어난 옹주로서 조선시대 왕녀로서는 유일하게 의언실권이라는 시집을 남기고 있다. 이 의언실권에는 숙선옹주가 지은 시 273수가 필사로 수록되어 있는데 남편 홍현주의 시문집인 홍현주시문고에 합쳐져 편찬되어 있다. 숙선옹주의 남편 홍현주(1793-1865)는 당대 손꼽히는 명문가인 풍산 홍씨 출신으로 홍인모와 서영수합의 아들이었다. 홍현주 집안은 부모는 물론이고 형인 홍석주와 홍길주 모두 문재가 뛰어났고 누나인 홍유한당도 시재가 있던 집안이었다. 이처럼 가족 모두가 문재가 뛰어난 집안으로 시집온 옹주는 집안 분위기에 힘입어 활발하게 시 창작을 할 수 있었던 것으로 보인다. 숙선옹주 한시의 특징은 세 가지로 정리해 볼 수 있다.첫째 옹주의 작품 중에는 偶吟, 雜 등 단순하면서도 같은 제목이 상당히 많으며 시어도 단순하다는 점이다. 둘째는 옹주의 시에 보면 ‘- 笑 -’ 즉 ‘무엇이 (나를 보고) 웃는다’라는 표현이 눈에 띈다. 이러한 표현이 많은 것은 작가 자신이 정신적으로 어려움 없이 성장하였기 때문에 꽃을 보았을 때 꽃이 자신을 향해 웃는 것처럼 느끼기 때문일 것이라 생각된다. 그리고 이러한 표현은 옹주의 밝고 명랑한 성격을 보여주는 것이기도 하다. 셋째는 중국 시인의 작품에 차운한 시가 많다는 점이다.
Abstract
Suksun princess, who was born between 22nd Cho Sun king ‘Chung Cho’ and ‘Subin- Park’, was the only Cho Sun princess who composed the collection book of poems ‘Uieonsilkwon’ 273 poems of Suksun princess were collected in ‘Uieonsilkwon’ and it has been combined with the other collection poem book ‘Honghyunju-Simunzip’ which was written by ‘Hong-Hyunju’, the husband of Suksun princess. ‘Hong-Hyunju’ was a son of ‘Poongsan Hong’ family’. ‘Hong Hyun Ju’ was born between the father ‘Hong-Inmo’ and the mother ‘Seo-Youngsuhap’. ‘Hong’ family was the one of the highest reputation family; Hong-Hyunju’s brothers ‘Hong-Sukju' and ‘Hong-Kilju’ were great poets. His sister, ‘Hong-Yuhandang’, was also a great poetess. It is assumed that husband’s family back ground affected Suksun princess’s poetry works. Three remarkable points are found in Suksun princess’s poems. First, many poems of her have same names and the words are very simple. Second, it is easy to find the expression ‘(something) looks at me and smiles at me’ in her poems. Due to her blessed and wealthy circumstance of growth, it looks like she had positive mind to feel that everything meant delightful and bright to her. Third, many of her poems are very similar to Chinese poem style.
